Specialist Workplace Mentoring For Indigenous Employees

Working with  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees brings a wide range of valuable benefits to organisations, teams, and the broader community.  These can include cultural insight and awareness, stronger community connections, workforce diversity and innovation, economic and social impact, and cultural learning and knowledge sharing.

Our passion to empower communities comes from our mission to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Tribal Warrior Talent’s Indigenous Employment & Mentoring program is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees remain in long- term employment by providing mentorship to them and the organisation that employs them.

In our program, we:

  • Instil our mentoring principles of culture, respect, routine and discipline;
  • Support the mentee to reach a minimum of 6 months continuous employment;
  • Create an open and honest relationship between the employer, mentor and mentee that is culturally safe; and
  • Provide guidance and support to the mentee when navigating work, community and cultural expectations.

Through this program we are bridging the gap between community and industry to create a more secure future for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander employees.

WHAT OUR LEARNERS SAY:

CULTURAL LEARNING WITH LASTING IMPACT

  • Cultural Awareness

    "We view our differences sometimes through the agendas of the media and politicians. This immersion gave me more insight into the truth and much more context  of the struggles of a community, which is multi-generational now. We should all work together to help heal."

    "The facilitators created such a safe space for discussion and enquiry. The content that was discussed was highly relevant, informative and impactful. The environment felt relaxed and fluid and the conversations evolved very organically. I feel more informed as a result of attending the session".

    " For a Tier 1 construction company with no established relationship or reputation in community, we were challenged to reach successful outcomes without community support. From experience, I know that corporates need to engage early mand establish the right relationships to successfully engage community on projects. Organisations tend to wait until too late in the project once there's an immediate need and miss their targets due to delayed engagement. As Tribal Warrior has always had an established reputation as one who connect community with corporates and industry, they were well-placed to meet the needs of our project. A major barrier our organisation faced was employee retention, especially with young people responding to the demands of the labour industry. The onsite mentoring helped us overcome this barrier, with the majority of mentees going on to have fulfilled and rewarding careers in construction. Working with Tribal Warrior was simple, effective and rewarding. Thanks to their support, we met our First Nations initiative targets on the project".

    "The Tribal Warrior program has helped me really understand that it's ok to feel how I feel. That this feeling of disconnection is not just me, there are a lot of people who feel exactly how I feel but I need to be willing to give everything a chance. It's alright if I feel this way, but it's not ok to not to anything about it. I understand now that I need to take the initiative to acknowledge my past and it's not too late to connect with who I am nad build myself up for a strong future".
