NCIE ANNOUNCEMENT
Exciting news for Tribal Warrior expansion
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC), NCIE Ltd, Tribal Warrior, and the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council (Metro) are pleased to announce a new partnership to secure the future of the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) in Redfern. Following the completion of an expression of interest process, the ILSC has selected an alliance between Tribal Warrior, Metro, and NCIE management as the preferred bidder for the transfer of ownership of NCIE Ltd. This partnership will ensure NCIE remains an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, continuing its role as a strong and vibrant hub for the community. The change relates only to NCIE Ltd as the operator of the aquatics centre, fitness centre, sporting field, conferencing facilities, and programs. The Redfern site itself remains owned by NSWALC and leased to NCIE Ltd for these services. A dedicated working group, with representatives from each organisation, is now undertaking due diligence and developing a transition plan, with the aim of completing the transfer by December 2025. Throughout this process, NCIE will continue operating as usual, with all programs and services running for the people who rely on them. The partners share a commitment to NCIE’s long-term sustainability and growth. By building on existing programs and exploring new opportunities, we aim to create a secure future that delivers lasting benefits to the local community. We recognise the deep connection many people have to NCIE, and the importance of its programs in supporting and enriching lives. Together, we are committed to working openly, listening to the voices of our community, and ensuring NCIE continues to thrive for current and future generations.
